 Modern Chinese Musicians

He Luting (July 20, 1903 – April 27, 1999) - was a Chinese composer of the early 20th century. He composed songs for Chinese films beginning in the 1930, some of which remain popular.

Ma Sicong (May 7, 1912 – May 20, 1987) – was a Chinese violinist and composer. In China he was known as "The King of Violinists". His Nostalgia for violin, composed in 1937 as part of the Inner Mongolia Suite, is considered one of 20th-century China's favorite pieces.

Xiao Youmei (January 7, 1884 - December 31, 1940) - was a prominent Chinese music educator and composer. He was one of the first composers in China to master Western composition techniques and incorporated them into his works. In his lifetime, he wrote more than 100 pieces. These include works for piano, orchestral pieces, violin and other string pieces, and choral works.

Liu Tianhua (1895–1932) - was a Chinese musician and composer best known for his innovative work for the erhu. Liu's students, such as Jiang Fengzhi and Chen Zhenduo, continued to contribute to the development of the erhu.
