RUDI (Soroca district) - Struve Geodetic Arc (WHS Unesco)
The Struve Geodetic Arc is a monumental complex declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2005, made up of a series of 34 milestones or vertices for geodetic measurements spread over ten countries in Northern and Eastern Europe. The system was built at the initiative of the astronomer Friedrich Georg Wilhelm von Struve.
Friedrich Georg Wilhelm von Struve (15 de abril de 1793 - 23 de noviembre de 1864) fue un astrónomo alemán del Báltico, parte de una famosa dinastía de astrónomos.
