The Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres, is a cathedral church of Roman Catholic worship dedicated to Our Lady, the Virgin Mary in the city of Chartres, in the Eure-et-Loir department, in France, in the northwest of the country, about 80 km from the state capital, Paris. It is also the seat of the Diocese of Chartres, in the Archdiocese of Tours. In 1979 it was declared, by UNESCO, "Cultural Heritage of Humanity".
