LISBON - Belem Tower (WHS Unesco)
The Torre de Belém, in the Manueline style, was built between 1515 and 1519 and is the work of Francisco de Arruda. The tower is located at the mouth of the Tagus River and was initially used to defend the city, and later became a customs center and lighthouse. In 1983, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
