NEW YORK - East pier of the Brooklyn bridge (1985)
The Brooklyn Bridge connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn in New York City. It was built between 1870 and 1883, and at the time of its inauguration it was the largest suspension bridge in the world (it is 1,825 meters long, and the span between pillars is 486.3 meters), a span record until 1889 when it was builds the Forth Bridge, with a maximum span of 521 m. It was also the first suspended by steel cables. Since then, it has become one of the most recognizable symbols of New York.
